Samuel Welles
Associate AttorneySamuel Welles is the probate attorney and the newest member of the Bay Area Family Law Center. Prior to joining this practice, he worked for a small business litigation firm in downtown San Francisco. He attended law school at night at the University of San Francisco School of Law while working for a boutique probate, tax, and estate planning firm. While at USF, he won the CALI Award for Federal Income Taxation and participated in the Intensive Advocacy Program - an oral-advocacy and trial skills workshop. He has extensive professional experience in Probate, Trusts, and Estates; Business Entity Transactions; and Tax Planning.
Prior to his career in law, Samuel attended Bates College in the beautiful state of Maine. As a founding member of the Bates College Musician's Union and its first treasurer, he got his first exposure to accounting practices through maintenance of the organization's balance sheets and his first oral advocacy experience in representing the organization in hearings before the Student Activities Budget Committee. In addition to an Economics minor, Samuel successfully completed an oral defense of his Honors Thesis in Music Composition which premiered at the 2007 Mount David Summit.
Samuel thoroughly enjoys using his law license to help clients navigate probate, working through estate disputes, or by avoiding the probate process altogether through the careful and deliberate process of estate planning and trust administration.
Outside the law, you can find him on the disc golf course and listening to old vinyl at the home in Oakland he shares with his lovely girlfriend and their two cats, Moose and Dusty.
